Giving Back

The New River Valley is the community we and many of our members call home. It is important to the NRVHBA to give back. In fact, it is our part of our mission. The NRVHBA gives back to the community through initiatives including, but not limited to:

  • Scholarships for graduating high school students who are pursuing secondary education in the construction industry at Virginia’s Colleges, Trade Schools and within Working Internships. Learn more here.
  • Charitable donations and activities with partnering organizations throughout the NRV.
  • Our workforce development committee, which is actively working with partnering organizations and the area's public and post-secondary schools to further trades education and construction career awareness
  • And more!

Women in Building Contribute to Habitat for Humanity’s 50-State Home Initiative

On May 9, 2025, the NRVHBA hosted a Women in Building Build Day with Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley at their duplex project in Pearisburg, Virginia!

This project is part of an initiative to construct 50 sustainable concrete homes in 50 states in five years set by Habitat for Humanity International and the Build with Strength Coalition. Over 45 homes have been constructed in 27 states since the launch of the initiative in February 2021. This home, once complete, will host two families!

The NRVHBA's Women in Building Committee continues to empower women in the construction industry through hands-on events like this Build Day. This event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, learn new skills, and contribute to meaningful community development. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped make the day possible.
