Lunch & Learn: Start Your Own Apprenticeship Program

Many builders and trades companies are interested in apprenticeships but get stuck on where to start, how training works, and how to afford it. This workshop-style lunch and learn is designed to change that. In 60–75 minutes, you will work through a guided “Apprenticeship Game Plan” for your company, learn simple requirements for Virginia Works apprenticeship work plans, explore practical training options, and see what funding sources can offset your costs.

By the end of the session, you will walk out with:

• A draft apprenticeship plan tailored to a real position in your company
• A draft Virginia Works work plan that Virginia Works and NRVHBA can help you finalize
• A clearer understanding of training options and schedules that fit your jobsites
• An overview of available funding (state workforce programs, grants, scholarships) to help cover tuition and training costs
• Your company’s apprenticeship Expression of Interest submitted and next-step 1:1 follow-up scheduled

Who Should Attend:
Owners, managers, HR leads, and field leaders from NRVHBA member companies and trade contractors who want to “grow their own” talent in carpentry, plumbing, and other core trades.

Format:
Interactive workshop, brief presentations with guided worksheets, Q&A, and on-site sign-up support. No prior experience with apprenticeships is required.
